Greater Patagonian Trail

The Greater Patagonian Trail is the first long-distance trail in Chile/Argentina, proposed and established by Jan Dudeck (end 2013). There are hiking and horse trails that traverse remote valleys and mountain passes, created and maintained by local herdsmen and settlers. This long-distance trail joins up these paths and trails, and about 1500km has already been established (walked). One of the reasons why it’s called Greater Patagonian Trail is because most of it is actually outside the traditionally-defined Patagonia boundaries, in Southern Chile.

I’ve figured out how to posts update re. the GPT to this page, and so have moved most of this first initial post (dated 9 June 2016) to become a post in a page under this one. Future updates will appear under GPT updates.
