This is rather a promotional post, but I think it more than deserves the space.
A few months ago, when I was still working at NParks on the Festival of Biodiversity, I thought of trying to consolidate all of Singapore’s naturalists photos and videos into a documentary, and enlisted the help of my friends, David Tan and Eunice Soh in the production. The end result was a 14 and a half minute documentary entitled “Singapore got wildlife, meh?”
David deserves, in my opinion, the most credit for the making of the documentary (I barely did anything :X), and he’s currently on exchange programme in Yale University. He took part in the TEDxYale Student Speaker Competition and spoke about producing a nature documentary without spending a single cent – essentially relying on crowd-sourcing.
I’ve not thought about the fact that we were actually crowd-sourcing the material for our documentary, but yes, if not for the strong support from the community, we would not have been able to produce the documentary. His next project is going to be “Yale got wildlife, meh?” (:
Please support David by voting for his talk! (You’ll have to vote through Facebook though, it seems.) Voting ends on 31 Dec 2012.
